Taye Diggs, Idina Menzel Split

    

He's the star of one of the biggest romantic comedies of the year, but Taye Diggs' own love story isn't going to have a happy ending. The Best Man Holiday star has split from Idina Menzel, his wife of ten years,People.com reports.


"Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs have jointly decided to separate at this time," reps for the couple says. "Their primary focus and concern is for their son. We ask that you respect their privacy during this time." 

Diggs and Menzel met as costars in the original production of the Broadway musical Rent in the mid-1990s. They married in 2003 and had a son, Walker, in 2009. 

The actor — recently the victim of a hoax in which he allegedly dissed Black women — has starred in some of the most seminal Black romantic comedies of the last twenty years, including The Best Man and Brown Sugar. He also starred for six seasons on the Shonda Rhimes-produced series Private Practice.
