Sanaa Lathan, Taye Diggs, Terrence Howard & More Spotted Filming ‘Best Man Holiday '

Most of us can agree that “The Best Man” was one of those classic black films from the 90s, but will the sequel live up to the hype of the original? We will have to wait until it’s release in November to find out, but in the mean time, the cast has begun filming in Canada and there are all types of spoilers in the photos that have emerged.

The movie takes place 14 years after Mia and Lance’s wedding, and when the friends reunite, we see that all of the couples have been through a few changes. From the pics, we can see that Sanaa Lathan’s character Robin is preggo and it looks like Harold Perrineau’s character Julian may have gone ahead and wifed up Candy, the stripper who he fell in love with played by Regina Hall. Taye Diggs told Essence back in March that his character Harper is still with Robin, although he wouldn’t give many details other than there’s another big event coming that fans may not expect.

“I will say this. My character is humbled in this one. But I’m still together with Robin.[...]I can’t even begin to say. I’ll say that there’s another big event. In the first one, there was a wedding and [now] there’s another big event that brings us all together.”

Terrence Howard, who plays Quentin, also didn’t want to give us too much on the plot, but revealed that the tragedy in it makes him emotional.

“I think it’s going to be amazing film and I get teary-eyed thinking about it because there’s some tragedy in it. That’s all I’ll say.”

And Morris Chestnut also hinted at some emotional scenes in the movie:

I think people are going to experience the whole gamut of emotions. I think they’re going to laugh, and I think they’re going to cry. There’s a lot of stuff going on in this movie. It’s a fun movie, don’t get me wrong, but there’s a lot of heartwarming moments, some realization with some characters. There’s a lot in this movie.

“The Best Man Holiday” is set to hit theaters on November 15 of this year. Morris Chestnut and Monica Calhoun are returning as Lance and Mia, but no word on whether they’re still together or what ever happened to Nia Long’s character Jordan, who’ll be back for the holiday get-together as well.
