The Senate, Tuesday, withdrew the controversial anti-social media bill sponsored by Bala Ibn Na’Allah, which many believe was aimed at restricting freedom of expression.
This decision followed the report of the upper chamber’s Committee on Human Rights and Legal Matters submitted by David Umar shortly before the withdrawal.
The report showed a number of violations of citizens’ rights in the bill, and how it contradicts extant laws, which it argued was a major setback to the fight against corruption.
