A frustrated son has beaten up his father who is visually impaired and allegedly threatened to kill him after blaming him for his woes in life.
The 21-year old youth, Chidera Ajalu allegedly battered his father, Benjamin Ajalu at their home at Egan, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.
Apart from raining blows on the old man, he allegedly used a wooden chair to hit his dad on the head.
The incident happened at 17, Saviour Street, Egan, on the outskirts of Lagos.
According to his mom, Chidera started behaving in a strange manner lately, started keeping late nights and suddenly became violent against members of his family.
This caused constant quarrel between he and his father and other members of his family.
It was learnt that Chidera did not finish his secondary school and there is no money to start the electrical business after he learnt the trade.
According to his mom, Chidera was blaming them for his predicament whereas when his dad was working, he begged to go to school but he refused.
On the day the incident happened, Chidera reportedly attacked his father for advising him to change his attitude and be useful in life.
The matter was reported at Igando police division and he was arrested and charged to court for assault occasioning harm.
When the charge was read to him, he pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr P. E. Nwaka granted him bail in the sum of N50,000with two sureties in like sum.
He was however remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri pending when he will meet his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 22 April, 2013
His mom is now in a dilemma over whether to bail him and displease her husband who wants him to remain in custody for sometime.
